I have posted this before in a different format but it just occurred to me when seeing it again that Jim Simons is supposed to be retired. He is not doing too badly for someone who is spending his days either gardening or down at the local bowls club.
It was interesting to read that Buffet made a bet of $1 million with a hedge fund manager that he could not beat the index over 10 years. With 8 years gone the hedge fund manager has made 21.9% while the US Index has risen over 65%. It looks like Buffet’s favourite charity is probably about to receive $1 million in two years’ time.
Its probably a good thing he didnt make the bet with Simons whose average annual return for the past few decades has been about twice that of Buffets
