The Update Screen

UPdate

To update your Trading Game Data Database connect to the Internet, open Trading Game Data and click the Update button

The Trading Game Data package will login to the data server and perform two operations:

  • Download the latest data file in accordance with your subscription
  • Incorporate that data into your MetaStocktm compatible Data

Twin data servers help ensure delivery of the data. If one server is unreachable, simply switch to the other and try again


Top Movers

Top Movers

This screen lists the Top Movers for the day as published by the ASX for 2 categories - the ASX 100 and the total market.

Subscribers to "snapshots" receive this information with each hourly update.

Custom Folders

The Trading Game Data ASX database is arrayed in an A-Z folder structure. To create additional folders of stocks, simply create a TEXT file containing the ASX Codes, saves this in the Trading Game Data lists folder and Trading Game Data will automatically create a folder for you to perform your explorations on.

This feature is useful if you have "exploration" software that scans your database looking for trading opportunities. You can focus your searches on a particular section of the market by creating a custom folder for that section.

Configuration

Users who are subscribed to intra-day "snapshots" may use the Configuration screen to specify which security types are included with each update. This user has excluded Warrants, ETOs and Interest Bearing Securities.

Excluding security types on an intra-day basis increases the speed of each update.

Maintenance

The Maintenance page includes a simple Backup/Restore function for the Trading Game Data database. Our suggestion is to backup at least once a month. The MetaStocktm compatible data format is a sensitive format, and "scrambled" files can be a problem.

Before you click the Backup command, we recommend disabling real-time virus scanning, if you happen to have it enabled. Scanning the construction of a large zip file can slow that process enormously.
